Endochora Kotsifali

Kotsifali is among the most important varieties of Crete and is cultivated with great success in the vineyard of Chania. Very often it is found in blends with Mandilari, but the small winery of Endochora chooses through a monovarietal approach to showcase the soft, rich character of Kotsifali. Full-bodied and quite full-bodied, with a beautiful tannic structure that favours the juicy character and ripe fruit, it is an excellent example of the variety. Its alcohol is superbly integrated with the other characteristics of the wine. Absolutely Cretan in style, warm and ripe without losing its energy and excellent balance.

More info

Very few bottles are produced with absolute dedication both in the vineyard and in the winery. The yields per hectare are around 800kg/hectare and the grapes are organically grown. Like all Endochora wines, it is produced exclusively with the indigenous yeasts of the vineyard. The wine has excellent red and dried fruit aromas on the nose, reminiscent of blackberry, cherry, raisin and complemented by very soft notes of dried spices and herbs. Kotsifali spends a period of 8 months in old barrels aged 3-4 years where it breathes and develops its aromas without taking on the vanilla aromas. Nice balance and complexity with a tannic structure and soft animal notes complementing the fruit nicely.
