Tiago Teles and Antonio Marques da Crus found this lost "treasure", with fragmented vines on the slopes of the Montejunto mountain range where Vital dominates. In an area with historic vineyards but always conventional viticulture by the old vine growers of the region, they began to change techniques to organic, using only natural fertilizers and regenerate these great vines on the Jurassic limestone soils and just 15 km from the Atlantic Ocean. The vo-Vital comes from one of the six historic small vineyards that came to own Vinha do Outeiro with 35-50 year old vines. With the help of the Atlantic influence they produce cold-climate wines with a fantastic record of their origins. Here we have a skin-contact version of the varietal where the skins are left in contact with the juice for 8 days, elevating the aromatic profile of the wine and adding tension, energy and depth.

The altitude of 350m and the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean lead to a cool, almost cold, oceanic climate. The vines were planted in 1993 by mass clonal selection, from over 70 different biotypes of old vines from the region. The wine has been extracted for eight days with the skins on and like all Cozs wines is produced with minimal intervention, indigenous yeasts and sulphites which are below 30mg/l. Maturation took place in old Burgundy barrels for 11 months before being released to the market. An ultra-concentrated, unique skin-contact wine with great balance and intense salinity on the palate.
