Markos Markovitis produces a Naoussa style that fits the old-fashioned traditions of the region, without the use of synthetic chemicals, with organic farming and very old barrels. At the same time it has a fascinating immediacy and purity of fruit achieving a subtle capture of the distinctive characteristics of each vintage. Almost always, it finds the perfect balance against the captivating power of Xinomavro. It is expressed through an elegant performance in the tannins, with elegance versus obvious power and with the red fruit consistently taking the lead. 2015 was quite a difficult year for the region's wines but at the moment the wine has opened up, showing off its heady aromas and elegant, fresh mouthfeel.

More info

An ethereal Burgundian character in a wine that was left for a year in the very old barrels - a legacy of his grandfather - in the winery's cellar. The bouquet offers a beautiful and expressive combination of crisp red fruits, such as cherry and strawberry, with herbal and earthy notes. The wine is lively on the palate, with a youthful tannic structure and that light Xinomavro wildness that captivates all fans of the variety. The relatively rough tannins at the beginning due to the difficulties of the vintage are tamed with time. This is another Naoussa of Markovitis that will evolve beautifully in the cellar, perhaps not as much as 2013 or 1999, developing layered tertiary characteristics
