Domaine de Villaine Bourgogne Rouge

53,00 €

Don't be fooled by the simplicity of the designation of origin. This is an exceptional red Burgundy (from great vineyards) with the signature Domaine de Villaine, owned by Romanee-Conti legend Aubert de Villaine and his nephew Pierre de Benoist. The 2021 year of minimal production led Pierre to blend fruit from the terroirs of "La Digoine" and "La Fortune" located in Bouzeron, from "Les Montots" in Mercurey and the 1er Cru "Passetemps" in Santenay. The nose is full of freshness and fruit, while the palate has the quality and finesse of "La Fortune" and "La Digoine" with something of the power and depth of "Les Montots" and "Passetemps".

More info

The scarcity of fruit and the difficulty of the 2021 vintage led Pierre de Benoist to blend some of his exceptional vineyards which he normally makes into single vineyard wines. Thus the simple appellation of origin Bourgogne Rouge does not reflect any of the qualities one will find in this one-off winemaking of Domaine de Villaine. Expressive, fresh, with an emphasis on the lovely red fruit of Pinot Noir, enhanced by whole cluster fermentation, and a spicy, fresh and ethereal palate that nevertheless does not fall short in intensity and depth.
