Domaine de Villaine Rully 1er Cru "Cloux" Blanc

81,20 €

The warmer vineyards of Rully such as Rabourcé, Cloux and Raclot are located in the northern part of the appellation of origin. Here the main characteristic is the lower elevation of the vineyards, the better protection from the winds and the steeper slopes. The "1er cru Cloux" planted with both Chardonnay and some Pinot Noir is located in the "heart" of the slope with the 1er cru of Rully and combines amazingly the beautiful aromatic profile right from the start, which ranges between ripe citrus and floral notes, with the extremely elegant, relatively light and harmonious palate which is characterized by mineral notes and a long finish. One of Pierre de Benoist's favourite wines which he adores for its lovely ala Puligny-Montrachet silhouette.

More info

One of Rully's great terroirs, a gorgeous premier cru that combines the soft, perfectly ripened fruit from the eastern exposure slopes of "Les Cloux" with spicy peppery elements, classic as can be, and with the corners rounding the beautifully integrated barrel. The vineyard is biodynamically farmed and the wine is matured in a combination of barrels and demi-muids. Tasting Pierre de Benoist's premier cru Rully from south to north, which means from cooler to warmer vineyards one can see the transition to more fleshy and ripe character in the fruit. 'Les Cloux' hovers right at the point of perfect balance between freshness and ripeness.
