Domaine de Villaine Rully 1er Cru Montpalais Blanc

Pierre de Benoist impeccably cultivates some of the best terroirs of the Cote Chalonnaise, allowing the specificity of each individual vineyard to "shine" through organic farming and gentle natural vinification in the cellar. 2016 marks the first vinification of the premier cru Montpalais which is distinguished by its stony minerality that balances the dense, fleshy fruit of the Chardonnay from this vineyard. You will find in the wine all the nerve and energy that characterizes the estate's whites but with extra depth and richness, perfectly typical of such a top terroir for the region as that of Montpalais.

More info

Domaine de Villaine makes three distinct wines from premier cru vineyards in Rully. In Montpalais you will find perhaps the most dramatic, intense combination of fruit ripeness and freshness. Very attractive and with a range of aromas on the nose, with almost exotic fruit and beautifully underlying notes from the barrel. The wine is vinified and matured in a combination of old barrels and a new 600 litre demi-muid. The palate is powerful with fleshy, juicy fruit and fresh mineral tensions. You might mistake it for an exuberant example of the more northerly Cote d'Or.
