Domaine de Villaine Rully 1er Cru "Rabourcé" Blanc

81,20 €

The "Rabourcé" one of the "magical" six premier cru vineyards where Pierre de Benoist vinifies amazing Chardonnay is located in the northernmost part of Rully and is on a warm slope on the back of the neighbouring, also premier cru, "Raclot" and "Cloux". On the nose the 'Rabource gives a stunning combination of ripe white-fleshed fruit notes through to fresh butter combined with a subtle barrel presence. Chalkiness and minerality on the palate and a surprising range of flavours associated with the exceptional ripeness of the grapes, reminiscent of apricots and candied pineapple. However, the acidity gives excellent freshness on the finish while at the same time giving it surprising length. Rich and velvety, with beautiful concentration supported by lovely acidity in a wine that will improve with time.

More info

Domaine de Villaine's great 1er cru Rabourcé is one of the most stunning vineyards, amphitheatrically shaped with south-southeast exposure and one of the first to be recognized in Rully. It is the warmest vineyard of those on the estate with white clay soils. The small property extends over three different parcels and due to the exposure and ripening of the grapes, superbly achieved each year yields one of the estate's most generous and rich Chardonnays, with juicy stone fruit balanced by a tight mineral and lemony acidity. The finish is distinguished by its savory-mineral character in a wine of incredible balance and complexity. It is vinified in large foudres and in a combination of oak barrels and demi-muids.
