Envinate Benje Red

22,50 €

Benje Tinto is a "triumph" of old autochthonous vineyards, perfectly adapted varieties, volcanic soils and altitude in the northwestern part of Tenerife, which has the highest vineyards on the entire island. The different small vineyards for Benje Tinto are located at altitudes between 900-1200m and the wine is produced mainly from the Listan Prieto (Pais or Mission grape), a historic grape that was the first to travel from Europe to the Americas in the 16th century. Here of course in the old vineyards of Tenerife it has an incredible clonal diversity and unique characteristics associated with the sandy volcanic soils and ash residue from the 1909 eruption of the Chinyero volcano. The beautiful old cups (70-110 years old) give a profile of crisp red fruit, lilac, black pepper and a sense of smoky gunpowder to a wine with finesse and wonderfully elegant lines.

More info

The multiple small vineyard plots have not been subjected to any chemical intervention except for the addition of sulphur in some of the vineyards. Each vineyard is vinified individually with their indigenous yeasts, with no sulphites added, and the malolactic is spontaneous as well. The wine will be aged in a combination of 228lt neutral barrels as well as concrete tanks. The only addition-intervention is a small amount of sulphite before bottling. Freshness, acidity and refreshing character with a beautiful aromatic profile that combines fruit with the minerality that characterizes the wines of Tenerife.
