Sclavos Zakynthino Orange

29,00 €

If we consider Sklavos' Zakinthino to be the producer's heretical view of the variety, the orange version, fermented with the skins, is absolutely subversive. Slavos vinifies a small piece of the grape in contact with the skins in a 1,700lt concrete egg and lets it "rest" without interference for a year. Originated from the Metaxas family's vineyard in Oropedios of Elios, which looks directly from the southern part of Kefalonia to the variety's homeland, Zakynthos, the result is simply amazing. A wine with deep orange colour, citrus peel, dried apricot, honey, almond and explosive minerality. What is truly sublime is the mouthfeel. Like a "doped" wine, with amazing tensions, excellent acidity and a phenolic dimension reminiscent of a red wine. Endless flavour, richness and perfect balance with the freshness of the wine. An explosion of flavour in the mouth with an incredibly long finish.

More info

Zakynthino came from Zakynthos many years ago and is still cultivated in that part of Kefalonia that faces its birthplace. From the limestone soils of the Elios plateau, with organic farming and minimal interventions during traditional winemaking where the skins remain in contact with the juice for a long time, Evryviadis produces another great orange wine with tensions, power and amazing energy. The wine remains for a year in cement egg in contact with the fine lees and is bottled without any intervention and without sulphites in a completely "natural" vinification. The profound acidity in combination with the wine's PH is quite sharp, promoting the rich, creamy sensation and full body of the wine, giving it absolute balance. One more amazing wine from Kefalonia and this great Greek winemaker.
