Julien Sunier Morgon

31,70 €

The "seeds" for the renaissance of Beaujolais may have been planted by the famous "gang" of four pioneers of the region, such as Marcel Lapierre, but it seems that the region is "blossoming" through a new generation of winemakers who have shown determination to highlight the specificities of the terroir of their land and to take "the sceptre from the merchants of the region. Among them is Julien Sunier, an excellent vigneron who since 2008 has started producing fantastic wines from Morgon, Regnie and Fleurie. His Morgon comes from vineyards averaging 60 years old in different lieux-dits of the famous appellation of origin and is a benchmark for the style of this village. Generous and full-bodied dark juicy fruit, with the classic Morgon structure of leather, kirsch and smoky tea.

More info

The privately owned vineyards in various lieux-dits of Morgon are cultivated organically at an altitude of 270-430 metres on pink granite sand. The grapes of exceptional ripeness are transported intact with their bunches by gravity to stainless steel tanks, where carbonic maceration takes place for 10 days and semi-carbonic maceration for another 10 days. Pressing is carried out in an old vertical press and the wine is matured in old barrels for 9 to 11 months on fine lees. It is bottled without intervention and only with a minimum of sulphite before bottling.
