Galeyrand Gevrey-Chambertin "Billard"

132,60 €

The classic expectations of a Gevrey are those of a wine that gives the impression of solid power and at the top levels of quality and that unparalleled "noble" character that give it the title of "king of wines". But this "reputation" too often hides the truth which depends on the beautiful "palette" of vineyards that producers have available - at all quality levels of the Burgundy scale - to show off. From the lieu-dit "En Billard" located in the commune of Brochon, Galeyrand is the only producer to produce a wine that bears the indication of this particular vineyard on the label. Similar sandy soils to "La Justice" that dry well due to the presence of gravel. The wine is extremely long and tasty with a very good structure but "relaxed" by the excellent presence of fruit on the palate.

More info

One of the earliest ripening sites in Burgundy a vineyard located between "La Justice" (on the lower side of D974 and Champerries on the upper side. Quite aromatic and lively in character with a depth of flavour that relaxes the tannic structure of the wine, providing excellent length on the palate. 15-20% fermentation with whole bunches, native yeasts and maturation for 12-16 months in barrels (20% new). No clarification and light filtering if necessary. Sulphites added only before bottling only in small percentages (30-45 ppm total).
