Tatsis Negoska "Old Roots"

30,40 €

Negoska Old roots is a don-kichotic approach of the Tatsis brothers who, by "combing" the zone of Goumenissa and coming in contact with old vine growers of the region, managed to discover a treasure trove of old, "uncharted" vineyards. The stumps are more than 70 years old, maybe even 100 years old, and these small vineyards, in different parts of the zone with different orientations and soils, are complex in terms of varieties. Within the same vineyard one will find old Xinomavro, Negosks and various white varieties. After the Xinomavro Old roots, the special "natural" vinification of Negoskas gives a wine with an amazing tannic structure, power and an absolutely authentic character.

More info

It is not only the old stumps but also the clonal diversity and biodiversity, which is the reason for the exceptional complexity of wines from such vineyards. The above, combined with the slow natural vinification and the Tatsis brothers' non-intrusive approach to the winery, result in a wine that has excellent layering and multiple layers in the glass. The de-stemming of the lees was followed by three weeks of maceration in open stainless steel tanks and the wine was aged in French oak for a year without any kind of addition or intervention. Raw, wild almost primitive style of a natural wine that authentically captures the variety. Slightly increased volatility and extremely complex aromatic and flavour character.
