Domaine de Villaine Côte Chalonnaise "La Digoine" Rouge

53,60 €

La Digoine is an absolutely lovable Pinot Noir that comes from the base of a hillside in the Cote Chalonnaise that is famous for its red wines. The vineyard is a monopoly of Domaine de Villaine and produces fine Pinot Noir with lots of character and great ageing potential. Pierre de Benoist takes a totally traditional approach to winemaking with a non-intrusive approach. It is essentially a projection of his similar philosophy of growing in the vineyard. The brilliant terroir of La Digoine translates into a combined pattern of finesse and power on the palate with very good fruit intensity and "electric" minerality.

More info

Winemaking of La Digoine follows the same philosophy as La Fortune with about 2/3 use of whole bunches in the oak winemakers. The maceration time is no more than two weeks and the wine will be aged in barrels aged 2 to 5 years. The aromas are delicate and elegant, the fruit, although a little shy at first, is distinguished by its depth and power. The levels of maturity and finesse on the palate are hard to find in wines of such a generic appellation of origin. The robust - yet velvety textured tannins - promise great aging potential in the wine. The complexity of an aged bottle of La Digoine will mentally take you back to one of the top robust wines of the more northern and renowned Cote de Nuits. Without a trace of exaggeration.

Isole e Olena Chianti Classico is yet another example of the finesse and delicacy of the wines of Paolo de Marchi. Fresh and juicy with the classic notes of red cherry, mint and licorice, wrapped around the typical fine tannins of Sangiovese and all this on top of a palate that is overwhelming you with the freshness of its acidity. Elements of smoke and a...

    2003 - Loire - 500ml

On the one hand, great aromatic and flavour concentration, intensely oily sensation and richness in the mouth. On the other hand, excellent range, air and freshness. Multi-layered flavours and aromas, notes of quince, toast, caramel, along with strong dry-fruit elements. Richly sweet but with terrific lift and spirit leading to an exciting finish with...
