Proprieta Sperino Lessona DOC

In the shadow of the Alps in the North Piedmont region, Paolo de Marchi and his son Luca are reviving the historic Lessona area, a region that carries a great winemaking heritage. Uvaggio is produced mainly from Nebbiolo with a small percentage of Vespolina and Croatina varieties that tradition wants to be added to the blend to soften the fruit and give extra colour to the wine. The wine comes from vineyards in Lessona and the neighbouring Bramaterra and is fermented with indigenous yeasts in open oak fermenters. This is a beautiful, floral, fruit forward rendition of Nebbiolo, which is more elegant and approachable than its Barolo and Barbaresco counterparts.

More info

One of the most difficult vintages in the region, particularly cold but ultimately wines with beautiful aromas and a finer structure. Youthful in aromas and character, bursting with cherry, plum and blackberry fruit, while the barrel works supportively. Tensions are up on the palate, with sharp acidity and elegant tannins building a nice frame around the crisp fruit. Earthy aromas, smoke, herbal hints and minerality on the palate frame the fruit, while the finish is particularly enjoyable with very good length. The wine was fermented with indigenous yeasts in open oak fermenters and matured for 22 months in different sized barrels and also in bottle before being released to the market.

Isole e Olena Chianti Classico is yet another example of the finesse and delicacy of the wines of Paolo de Marchi. Fresh and juicy with the classic notes of red cherry, mint and licorice, wrapped around the typical fine tannins of Sangiovese and all this on top of a palate that is overwhelming you with the freshness of its acidity. Elements of smoke and a...

    2003 - Loire - 500ml

On the one hand, great aromatic and flavour concentration, intensely oily sensation and richness in the mouth. On the other hand, excellent range, air and freshness. Multi-layered flavours and aromas, notes of quince, toast, caramel, along with strong dry-fruit elements. Richly sweet but with terrific lift and spirit leading to an exciting finish with...
