Marcel Lapierre Raisins Gaulois

Had it not been a wine it could certainly be a summer beach reading. Easygoing, delightful, unpretentious it would travel you through its pages. Lapierre’s Raisins Gaulois is the ultimate antidote to the pompousness that governs the wine industry. A wine that defined a category- the famous glou glou wines- natural wines with a thirst-quenching character. The name obviously refers to the sound of a bottle when it is gulped down. While Raisins Gaulois is having its party; tannins, complexity, oak and high alcohol levels are not invited. Instead you will enjoy straigh tforwardness, upfront fruit and its spontaneous, cheerful, character.

More info

Similar to all the wines made by the pioneering Marcel Lapierre and nowadays his family, the grapes for Raisins Gaulois comes from organic vineyards and are whole bunch fermented with indigenous yeasts. We are talking about young vines here mostly coming from the Morgon appellation but also from the wider area of Beaujolais and by labelling itself as Vin de France, follows the example of many other glouglou wines that prefer to conceal their origin. The character of the wine has locked the immediate, expressive red fruit primarily found in Gamay, reminiscent of framboise along with strawberries, exotic passion fruit notes and hibiscus. Extremely juicy on the palate, with a soft velvety texture and an explosive fruitiness, it easily manages to entrap the happiness of living inside a single bottle of wine.
