Quinta da Palmirinha Loureiro

For more than 20 years, after retiring from his profession as a history teacher, Fernardo Paiva devoted himself to the small vineyard he inherited near 2000, in the famous Vinho Verde region of Portugal. There he produces sensational white wines, unique, special, which put the region, known for its easy-tasting and mildly sparkling wines, on a different level. The Palmirinha winery's Loureiro is the apotheosis of minerality. From the nose to the palate, a mineral sensation reminiscent of salt and gunpowder-smoked stone permeates you, which is combined with the herbal aromatic sensation of the variety, typical of laurel. Perfectly fresh, with a crisp and pulsating texture on the palate, leading to a long mineral stony finish. A wine more textural than fruity, with depth and length that is surprising considering its alcohol. Such energy only found in white wines from Tenerife.

More info

Loureiro is the most important variety for the Vinho Verde region and in Paiva's hands it is celebrated. Portugal's first biodynamic winery doesn't stop its approach just there but takes a minimalist approach to the winery where it doesn't cloud its wines at all. He protects them by adding ground chestnut blossoms from his estate to the must, an idea that has set him apart on a global level. Palmirinha Loureiro is an absolute, authentic expression of the variety and local terroir. If only there were more wines that could better capture the place they come from. But here we are talking about nerve, energy, minerality, saltiness and an incredibly low alcohol level, in a wine that nevertheless has depth and length. Nowhere else on the planet can a wine like this be produced. Truly great.

Isole e Olena Chianti Classico is yet another example of the finesse and delicacy of the wines of Paolo de Marchi. Fresh and juicy with the classic notes of red cherry, mint and licorice, wrapped around the typical fine tannins of Sangiovese and all this on top of a palate that is overwhelming you with the freshness of its acidity. Elements of smoke and a...

    2003 - Loire - 500ml

On the one hand, great aromatic and flavour concentration, intensely oily sensation and richness in the mouth. On the other hand, excellent range, air and freshness. Multi-layered flavours and aromas, notes of quince, toast, caramel, along with strong dry-fruit elements. Richly sweet but with terrific lift and spirit leading to an exciting finish with...
