Cahors, Clos la Coutale

11,00 €

On the one hand a long tradition and on the other hand an uncertain identity. This is a recurring pattern that can be found in the appellations of origin of the Southwest, (southwestern France) of this vast and uneven vineyard, of which Bordeaux is part - or better still, the quintessence - and the truth is that Bordeaux is historically to blame for the "anonymity" of many of these regions, blocking for centuries the trade routes of its neighbours' wines. Cahors, however, has managed to stand out among these appellations of Southwest France. Powered by the renowned Malbec, here its ancient home, Clos la Coutale is a fantastic starting point for discovering the wines of Cahors. Great balance, drinkability, amazing value for money, far from the famous style of the so-called "black wines" of the region which signalled dense, tannic, over-concentrated wines of a bygone fashion.

More info

85% Malbec and 15% Merlot to bring down the youthful "rigor" of the blend from organically cultivated vineyards on gravel and limestone soils with clay. The grapes are vinified in stainless steel tanks at relatively high temperatures with very careful cap breaking, and each individual vineyard plot after being vinified separately will be blended in the year following the harvest. The wine will age for several months in oak barrels (a combination of foudres and smaller barrels). Fruit and spice character in balance, silky quality tannins, and a round, soft and complex palate.

Isole e Olena Chianti Classico is yet another example of the finesse and delicacy of the wines of Paolo de Marchi. Fresh and juicy with the classic notes of red cherry, mint and licorice, wrapped around the typical fine tannins of Sangiovese and all this on top of a palate that is overwhelming you with the freshness of its acidity. Elements of smoke and a...

    2003 - Loire - 500ml

On the one hand, great aromatic and flavour concentration, intensely oily sensation and richness in the mouth. On the other hand, excellent range, air and freshness. Multi-layered flavours and aromas, notes of quince, toast, caramel, along with strong dry-fruit elements. Richly sweet but with terrific lift and spirit leading to an exciting finish with...
