Galeyrand Fixin "Champs de Vosger"

88,20 €

Jerome Galeyrand's "climats" located also in Fixin, together with Marsannay, is the northernmost part of the Cote, close to Dijon. "Le Champs des Vosger" is located on sandy soils alternating with alum gravel and the vineyard was planted in 1980. An amazing Fixin, already open and expressive with aromas of plums, berries, rose petals and spicy notes. It is medium-bodied, with soft tannins and extremely fine and fresh acidity. A wine built more around charm and finesse than power. That's why it's one of those Jérôme wines that can win one over from the start. An extremely approachable early vineyard but not lacking in depth along with a gorgeous smoky extra dimension.

More info

"Les Champs des Vosger" is one of the wonderful Fixin, a designation of origin that has a much better terroir than its "low-key" presence in Burgundy suggests. Apparently this is a "key" for the energetic Galeyrand who with his wines gives a new dimension to such -less prominent- regions or vineyards in Burgundy. For Champs des Vosger he uses a 15-20% whole bunches and fermentation is done with indigenous yeasts while the wine is subject to punchdowns and some pump-overs. It will age for 12-16 months in barrels (20% new). It is bottled unfiltered with light filtration if needed and sulfites only at bottling in very small quantities. (30-45 ppm total).
