Two different terroirs. One inland and one by the sea. But be careful, we are not talking about the terroir where the grapes come from, but the terroir of Retsini. The next step after producing wines using sustainable resin (without chemicals) was to research how the origin of the resin can influence the aromas of the raw material and therefore the character of the wines. And the differences are striking. Based on Assyrtiko from the privately owned vineyard of Goumenissa, with the same winemaking techniques and with the only change in the parameter being the origin of the Resinio, Eleni Kehri continues to develop her research. From the year 2022 come the two micro-communications. The Ousia (the word represents the year 2022) Thalassino is a stunning Assyrtiko, with notes reminiscent of sea salt, herbal hints of mint, as elegant and ethereal as sea wax. Great, wonderful and so excitingly different from the more stylistically classic Stergiano, this is a wine made from resin sustainably harvested from pine trees by the sea in the Elati area of Halkidiki, on the first foot.

Let's leave any marketing gimmicks aside and focus on the substance of the matter. 1979 Wines' two Kallos micro releases from the 2022 vintage are two stunning and fascinatingly different resins. The research in the first stage highlighted the quality of the aromas from a sustainably harvested resin and in the second stage, taking this pure - capable of delivering unprecedented quality aromas - resin, focused on the diversity that its provenance could bring. From the more dense, ripe and classic in aromas Stergiano, to the more ethereal, mineral, herbal dimension that Thalassino projects, you have in your glass not only the next day of retsina, but of Greek wine in general. A lesson in how we can approach and evolve Greek wine and the best we have to show the outside world.

Isole e Olena Chianti Classico is yet another example of the finesse and delicacy of the wines of Paolo de Marchi. Fresh and juicy with the classic notes of red cherry, mint and licorice, wrapped around the typical fine tannins of Sangiovese and all this on top of a palate that is overwhelming you with the freshness of its acidity. Elements of smoke and a...

    2003 - Loire - 500ml

On the one hand, great aromatic and flavour concentration, intensely oily sensation and richness in the mouth. On the other hand, excellent range, air and freshness. Multi-layered flavours and aromas, notes of quince, toast, caramel, along with strong dry-fruit elements. Richly sweet but with terrific lift and spirit leading to an exciting finish with...
