Once again, the Lyrarakis family looks up, to 610 meters altitude, where Vidiano, next to its breadth and volume, maintains a cool acidity that stimulates the palate. It naturally lacks the nerve of Assyrtiko, it is less sharp but at the same time rich, with excellent concentration and ripeness in the fruit. It might remind you of a Viognier, or a creamy Chenin Blanc passed through a barrel, but one thing is for sure, Hippodromo is well suited to the oak that is in perfect balance with the stone fruit. If you prefer textural wines then the Vidiano Hippodromos will impress you with its satiny impression on the palate.

More info

Precision winemaking, with a percentage of the grapes coming from the famous unripe bells that are usually left back in the vineyard because they are not ripe enough. But here they are vinified separately in 400lt perle barrels that don't let the dioxide escape. There they will remain in the absence of oxygen in anaerobic conditions for three months. The remaining perfectly ripened grapes after skin contact for a few hours are spontaneously fermented in new French oak barrels and remain there for two months. Poached pear and ripe peach with creamy hints and spice from the barrel give way to a rich mouthfeel, with sweet fruit and acidity able to balance the volume of the wine. Slightly warm and alcoholic with the barrel gradually evolving into more toasty particularly interesting aromas. It ages for at least five years.
