Guillemot-Michel Charleston

A wine with reference to the family's winemaking past from vines that are more than 100 years old (planted in 1918) and are the oldest vineyard planted by the great-grandfather of the family after his return from World War I. Charleston is a wine of exceptional depth and complexity with a beautiful expression in the glass, Ripe and juicy fruit, peach and apricot, with notes of cream, honey, truffle and chalky notes, with excellent concentration and 'satiny' character on the palate. Impressive in both depth and length, with a ripe honeyed character. Depending on the vintage, there is also a hint of noble rot, giving the wine even more volume and richness.

More info

The amazingly concentrated juice from the old vines, part of which is located in the Raverettes vineyard, is vinified in old demi-muids (600lt) 10 years old, perfectly traditional as a reference to the winemaking style of the past and their great-grandfather. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in demi-muids also for a year where malolactic is spontaneously done. After the next vintage, the wine is transferred to concrete tanks for another six months. Ripe but beautifully balanced due to the refreshing acidity that builds around the core of the fruit and brings the wine to life. It's enjoyable already but will age for at least a decade in bottle.
