Monte Dall' Ora Valpolicella Superiore "San Giorgio" DOC

42,00 €

From a particular vineyard purchased in 2013 a few kilometres from Carlo and Alessandra's winery, located at 500m altitude with southwest exposure of the vineyards. Here Corvina ripens at a slower pace and this contributes to a more spicy rather than fruity character in the wine. The soils are limestone and the wine is bursting with a spicy smokiness that is a "product" of the terroir rather than the barrel. A wine with explosive acidity and freshness that always needs more time to open. With few residual sugars and such acidity the balance is fantastic, the wine has endless length and very longevity in the bottle ageing part.

More info

This particular vineyard is located a few kilometres away from the estate surrounding the winery, towards Lake Garda and the vineyards are 15 to 40 years old on limestone soils. The label is painted by the daughter of Carlo and Alessandra. Fermentation is spontaneous, as in all the winery's wines, and takes place in a combination of stainless steel tanks and cement. The wine will remain for at least 1 year in barrels and at least 3 years in bottle before being released to the market. The wine is not filtered and is bottled with low levels of sulphites. Smoky, spicy, mineral with more "serious" fruit and character than Camporenzo and more mineral than fruity character. A wine whose acidity and energy will age superbly for many years.
