    Barolo di Serralunga d' Alba is a village -by Burgundian standards- Barolo by Luigi Baudana and his only Barolo in which he blends grapes from different places, all within the commune of Serralunga d' Alba. It is a grand, robust Barolo that nevertheless offers an expression of harmony and balance. Here, the ferocious character of Serralunga's Barolo is dialed down, making this little beast, balanced and accessible earlier than the same producer's single-vineyard crus counterparts. The wine is an authentic expression of Barolo's most renowned sub-region, the result of a slow traditional vinification followed by prolonged maturation in large Slavonian oak barrels.

    Dense aromas of black and dried fruit, truffle, liquorice, anise, snuff and leather on a nose that is austere but complex. On the palate the fierce attack of tannins that the nose's concentration prepares you for never comes. The wine is robust, how else could a Serralunga be, but at the same time refined and beautifully balanced. Dark fruit, earthy notes and smoke on the finish characterize this famous Barolo that seems accessible right from the start. The wine matured for about 31 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and in bottle before being released to the market.
