The first and iconic label of Clos de l'Écotard comes from vineyards planted between 2009 and 2013, behind the village of Courchamps, as a result of a mass clonal selection from the vineyards of François Chidaine. The vines are grown on clay-limestone soils with a calcareous substrate. Cultivation is organic and biodynamic and ploughing is done with the help of a horse. This is a low-intervention Chenin Blanc with surprising nerve and energy on the palate with flavors of yellow fruit, pear, chalk and "tons" of minerality and perfectly focused acidity. A hint of nuts and a long lovely finish in a stunning example of the new generation of wines from the varietal.

A wine from a continuous vineyard of twenty acres of dense planting, cultivated with mild techniques and with very low yields (only 4 to 5 bunches) per plant. Fermentation starts in stainless steel tanks and during the fermentation the wine is decanted into foudres and 500l demi-muids. Maturation takes place for 10 months in contact with fine lees and the wine is bottled unfiltered and with low levels of sulphites. A high precision Chenin Blanc, full of power but also electrifying energy in the mouth. Combined with the low-intervention winemaking, you have before you a first-class example of Chenin Blanc with that amazing -full of richness- texture but lifted on the palate by exceptional energy and mineral dimension.
