Envinate La Santa Red

32,30 €

The four Envinate friends-community members are a small group of like-minded dreamers who started in 2008 to search for old vines that no one else wanted to deal with in different regions of Spain where they came from. Very quickly the junk of others became their own treasure and their guerrilla, nomadic style became a benchmark for the new era of Spanish wine. Tenerife has a special place in the innovative project and La Santa de Ursula is one of the newest wines to grace their portfolio, as the search for new vineyards never stops. These are three vineyards they started working with in the north of Tenerife in the village of Santa Ursula. Age-old vines, field blend of Negramoll and Listán Negro varieties grown in a traditional cup-like formation system and red basaltic volcanic soils contribute to an exciting new wine

More info

La Santa de Ursula shares wild botanical hints, flowers and beautiful red fruits. A minerality reminiscent of smoke and sulphur is typical of Tenerife wines and this wine does not fall short of that. Wild, special, unique and typical of the region, La Santa de Ursula is vinified differently depending on the vineyard, and part of it is vinified with carbonic maceration, which was a tradition in the Tacoronte-Acentejo region. The wine is matured in 228 litre neutral barrels for 8 months. Another stunning example of the Envinate aesthetic, with an approach that wants as few interventions as possible to better capture the terroir in the wine.
