Pedro Parra Hub

36,20 €

Hub belongs to Pedro Parra's Cinsault single-vineyard series from specific vineyards. In Burgundy terms this is one of Parra's premier cru vines, a very good terroir, but one that he claims lacks something to be as complete as his "grand cru" vineyards. The name of the wine is inspired by jazz musician (jazz music, wine and cinema are Parra's three passions) Freddy Hambart and it is a very stony granitic shallow terroir with a high iron content. What is the Hub? A wine with great energy and minerality that literally comes from the stones and is one of the producer's own favourites. One that he will drink at home and will fill him with energy and mood. A Cinsault of the kind that you very rarely come across, with all the spicyness and aromaticity of whole cluster winemaking, elements that are however accompanied by many levels of complexity.

More info

Vines planted in 1943, manual harvesting, cup-shaped stumps, extremely stony terroir, whole bunch vinification at low temperatures that delay the native yeasts from working and add complexity to the wine, and fermentation and maturation in concrete tanks. There's nothing about the above suggestions that doesn't generate excitement among the wine lovers out there. Wines like the Hub come from unique terroirs that leave a "signature" on the wines with words like finesse, ethereality, intensity, reduction, energy, "bite" in the mouth to describe them. And it is fantastic to have such wines that pay tribute to all those daring vignerons who defied industrialization, big interests to preserve the uniqueness of their vineyard. Hub is a truly great wine both for what it stands for and for the "juice" in the bottle.
