And tasting the Imaginador, one realizes that all of the above characteristics overflow in the glass. Pedro Parra is a great winemaker from a "different" Chile than the one most people know. Itata is the most old world of the New World. A fascinating terroir, the oldest vineyard in Latin America, the "heart" of dry farming, with old vineyards. Imaginador is the introduction to the magic of this sublime place. Chile is "scorched" by the sun but Itata is cloudy and cool. This is evident in the elegance and cool fruit of Cinsault, the region's most important variety. Not many producers on the planet give their energy to this particular variety. Pedro Parra does and Imaginador is a beautiful Cinsault with a Burgundian approach, fruit from different vineyards and an ethereal style.

To make life easier for those who market his wines, Pedro Parra follows the Burgundy model because everyone can understand it. So he categorizes his wines hierarchically as village, premier cru and grand cru. Imaginador is one of the two villages he produces. (the other is Vinista). His inspiration for these wines was Italy and a simple Langhe that he loved to drink, instead of the premium Barolo, full of directness and lovely fruit. This is exactly what Imaginador is. A Cinsault that is vinified with 100% whole clusters with vibrant minerality, elegance and delicate character and the red fruit of the varietal. A truly ethereal-textured wine, atypical for Chile but so typical of the Itata terroir that it differs from the rest of the country like night and day.
