Terre Nere Etna Rosso "Bellacolonna"

40,70 €

A special celebratory bottling to mark 20 years since the winery's first vintage. Bellacolonna comes from a selection of grapes from the 30-acre Bellacolonna vineyard within the cru of Calderara Sottana planted in 2006-2007. The young vines of the Nerello Mascalese variety on the extremely rocky -characteristic- soils of the Calderara Sottana cru give a wine that is full of energy, power, with an intense fruity and floral character. A very extroverted wine that is full of freshness and directness without lacking elegance and depth. A wine as young and lively, full of energy, as young as the vines from which it comes. A one-off bottling from the winery that brought this great terroir to the attention of the world.

More info

Contrada Calderara is located in Randazzo and is one of the emblematic cru of Etna and from it comes one of the most characteristic wines of Tenuta delle Terre Nere. Although the majority of this is a cru with very old vineyards, 50-100 years old, the part called Bellacolonna was replanted in 2006-2007 and the vines are still under 20 years old. Which is extremely young in a zone that still has a large number of very old vineyards. The fruit for this anniversary release of Calderara Sottana is vinified with indigenous yeasts, and maturation takes place in a combination of large barrels and barriques (10% new), with malolactic also done spontaneously. In total it will be aged for more than a year before being released to the market.
