Terre Nere Etna Rosso "San Lorenzo"

The parallels between the wines of Etna and the Cote d'Or do not stop despite the more "fiery" in many cases character of the volcano's wines. The truth is that Etna shares the same dose of uniqueness with the infinite vineyards of Burgundy. Something for which the Tenuta delle Terre Nere winery has been a pioneer through the series of single-vineyard vinifications of the different crus it owns. Among them, San Lorenzo has all the hallmarks that fascinate and create a unique narrative in the face of the "storm" of modernism. The ancient volcanic soils, the altitude of 800-900m, one of the coldest terroirs in Etna and 70-100 year old vines give San Lorenzo more of the "cerebral" power of a Barolo than the soft and elegant texture of Burgundy.

More info

There are only two vineyards in the northern part of Mount Etna that come from the famous Ellittico terroir with the oldest soils in the area dating back 15000 to 60,000 years. You see the continuous eruptions of the volcano have over the millennia covered the earlier soils with new layers of lava and rock. So next to the cru Calderara Sottana, San Lorenzo is the second vineyard to proudly display the Ellittico terroir on its label. San Lorenzo has a perfect balance between muscular power and a very fine tannin delivery on the palate. A power always a little hidden behind the dense fruit and rich texture of the wine. A benchmark of depth, power and sharp acidity that will age superbly for many years in bottle.
