Marcel Deiss Riquewihr

30,00 €

The grand cru and crus d'Alsace are the top of the pyramid of the Deiss "kingdom" but in recent years varietal labels have given way to field blends and even lower-ranked wines in the hierarchy following the Burgundy model. Riquewihr "marks" what we call a "village" wine for the winery and comes from different pieces in the village of Riquewihr (the source of Alsatian tourism and one of the most picturesque villages in Alsace) and more specifically in the lieu-dits Engelsreben and Rosenbourg. Of the Deiss "villages" this one is the most obviously rich in character. Juicy fruit full of ripe flesh, firm but with a strong "cool" character on the palate.

More info

Organic and biodynamic vineyards at the end of the village with the classic non-intrusive Deiss winemaking that allows the terroir to express itself freely in their wines. Whole bunch pressing, spontaneous fermentation and maturation with lees for 12 months in foudres. The soils are rich in silica with the vineyard substrate being clay-calcareous. A dry wine, dense and intense from the combination of Riesling and Pinot Gris.
