What doesn't kill you makes you stronger... While the great fire of 2022 in Melambes caused unprecedented damage to the autochthonous vineyards of the region, Iliana Malihin does not succumb and continues to explore the local treasures of the wider region just as actively. This white blend from Vidiano and Thrapsathiri came after the fires, to stay, with fruit that comes from different vineyards in the wider Rethymnon area. The combination of the two varieties gives a wine with a nice thickness and volume in the mouth that highlights both the fruity and botanical characteristics of the varieties always with the "signature" of Iliana's non-intrusive winemaking and with a lot of patience on her part until the wine is ready to be released, several months after the harvest.

More info

Vidiano and Thrapsathiri from vineyards of the Rethymnon area at altitudes between 560-900m. The vines are a combination of younger vineyards and age-old autochthonous stumps on clay and shale soils, 10-100 years old. Iliana Malihin's classic - non-intrusive - winemaking with indigenous yeasts, minimal sulphites and no collage or filtration give a wine with character. It lacks a little in depth compared to the older Iliana vines yet has crisp and vibrant fruit and excellent texture on the palate. 8 months of contact with the lees have helped the volume of the wine and increased its complexity levels.
