If there is one red variety in the Attica vineyard that deserves special mention, it is Mandilaria, which seems to have managed to fully harmonize with the characteristics of the place. In this particular case, Sotiris Ginis produces one of the few excellent expressions of the wayward variety. The wine emphasizes the fruity character, as it is not barrel-aged anyway, ripe fruit cake, caramel and mouthfeel with the slightly rustic in tannic structure character of the variety. Nice pepper and spicyness in a nicely titered expression of the varietal that can be drunk now and also aged for a few years.

The vines of Mandilaria are over 25 years old and in the plain of the Mediterranean the Aegean variety is favoured by the characteristics that remind the dry and thermal conditions to which the grape is accustomed. This is a blend of wine which is extracted for 25 days in contact with the skins and will remain for 10 months in stainless steel tanks in contact with the lees before being bottled passing only through a coarse filter and further aged in bottle for release to the market.
