    The jewel in Antonio Bernardino da Silva Chitas' crown may be the wines from the historic Colares region on the Atlantic Ocean coast, but the Casal da Azenha Tinto range is the driving force behind the iconic winemaker's wines, representing the Lisbon region and its oceanic Atlantic climate in the best possible way. The Castelão, Tinta Miúda and Tinta Roriz varieties, classics of the region, form the basis for a wine that treads on elegance, spicy peppery character and fruit. Obviously it is not mainstream, how could a wine from Portugal be, but at the same time it is absolutely classic in style, with a perfect balance in the mouth between acidity, alcohol and volume.

    Classic red vinification with selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks with regular pumping of wine over the cap to achieve the best possible extraction of structure and colour in the wine. The fermentation takes place at relatively high temperatures, 26o C, and the wine will be aged in large oak barrels and the wine will also be aged in bottle before being released to the market.
