The small Reuilly appellation of origin is one of the well-kept secrets for Sauvignon Blanc lovers.

To a lesser extent, it also produces fresh fruity Pinot Noir and one of France's rarest rosés, Reuilly Rosé from the Pinot Gris variety. Despite the fact that it is a "satellite" appellation of origin of the neighbouring Sancerre and Pouilly Fume AC, the great and pioneering Denis Jamain has managed since 1990, when he took over the vineyards and the family winery Domaine de Reuilly, to make Reuilly and its Kimmeridgian (equivalent to Chablis) soils known throughout the world. Thanks to Denis Jamain, Reuilly is no longer the "Sancerre of the poor" a description that was common in past reports about the region.

After more than 30 years at the helm of Domaine de Reuilly and having caused seismic quality changes in the region, Denis retired from active involvement by selling his winery to Joseph et Marie de Maistre who operate Domaine Prieure de Saint Ceols in neighbouring Menetou Salon AC. Thus Domaine de Reuilly is now entering a new era without Denis at the helm but with worthy continuers of the great producer's work.

The 24 hectares of vineyards have been certified organic since 2011 and biodynamic certification since 2015. The approach is one of gentle natural vinification in the cellar which captures with crystal clarity the mineral expression of the Reuilly terroir. Reuilly has soils similar to those found in Chablis, full of marine fossils, responsible for some of France's top white wines.Only indigenous yeasts are used in the winery, the wines only pass through a coarse filter and sulphites are kept low. Each vineyard will also be given an individual label to accurately express the different characteristics of each vineyard and each vintage. In an area off the radar of most wine lovers, Domaine de Reuilly manages to produce wines that celebrate the exceptional terroir of Reuilly. In fact, when you take into account their amazing value for money, we are easily talking about wines that wipe many of the renowned Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé off the map.
